Grey is the new black and white art exhibition 2022
Art is something that is not well established within the African community. It is my goal to create a space where members of the community can come together and appreciate the beauty of modern art and African art. Each of the artworks on display today has been inspired by stories, people, and life itself. Each artwork has a unique story and comes in a variety of sizes.
Every detail and imperfection that appears in each artwork serves a purpose. In each artwork there is a story to be told, and your task is to interpret the story based on your own imagination.
The grey elements in each artwork represent everyone.
The purpose of this exhibition is to promote African culture and unify the community as a whole. The theme is "Every story has a lot of shades of grey - nothing is black and white". The reason for this is that regardless of our skin colour, we all face the same problems in life. We all cry, laugh and celebrate. We all have the same human anatomy. The grey represents us. It is imperative that we move away from the use of black and white in the world when it comes to our skin. Let's remix thingsand see each other from a grey perspective. Throughout society, we have been taught that we are all different based on our culture and skin colour. Unfortunately, society has accepted this, which is why there is so much hatred among people. As a symbol of the coming together of all people, grey represents the coming together of all.
Grey is formed when black and white are mixed together. In my world, there is no such thing as white or black skin. The only thing I see is grey. There is a balance between black, white, and grey in each artwork. Combining the right amount of each colour is the key to achieving a flawless grey. The only way to make grey is to combine black and white. The creation of a perfect world requires the cooperation and unity of all of us.
